? Crab Orchard Fish Off Delivers Big Bass and Tight Competition! ?
The Steel City Bassmasters took to Crab Orchard Lake on May 30, 2026, for an exciting Crab Orchard Fish Off, and the anglers did not disappoint!
A total of 36 anglers hit the water, bringing 27 bass to the scales for a combined weight of 77.52 pounds, with an impressive average bass weight of 2.87 pounds.
? TJ Luckshis claimed the top spot with a strong 3-fish limit weighing 11.85 pounds. TJ also anchored his winning catch with the tournament’s Big Bass, a giant 6.24-pound lunker that had everyone talking at the weigh-in!
? The battle for first place came right down to the wire as Ed Montgomery finished a close second with a 3-fish limit weighing 11.71 pounds, falling just 0.14 pounds short of the victory.
Rounding out the Top 4 were:
? Doug James – 3 fish, 8.35 pounds ? Jon Sackett – 2 fish, 6.26 pounds
Congratulations to all of our anglers for another great event! With quality fish, a trophy-sized Big Bass, and a razor-thin margin separating first and second place, the Crab Orchard Fish Off proved once again why Steel City Bassmasters tournaments are some of the most competitive and enjoyable events of the season.
Way to go, anglers! We look forward to seeing everyone at the next Steel City Bassmasters event! ???

? ATTENDANCE AWARDS ANNOUNCED FOR KENTUCKY LAKE! ?
The Steel City Board is turning up the excitement for the Kentucky Lake Tournament on May 16–17, 2026 with THREE special Attendance Awards designed to reward participation, camaraderie, and sticking around for the big finish!
Make plans and get your registration in so you can participate in this award.
? THREE $100 CASH AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN AWAY during the Sunday weigh-in and awards presentation!
That’s right — these prizes have absolutely NOTHING to do with tournament standings. Whether you catch a winning bag or struggle to find a keeper, every registered angler has an equal shot at taking home extra cash simply for being part of the weekend!
Here’s How It Works:
✅ Every registered tournament angler is automatically entered ✅ Each angler’s name will be placed into the drawing ✅ Winners will be selected old-school style — “pulling names out of a bag!” ✅ You MUST be present at the Sunday awards ceremony to win ✅ If your name is called and you’ve already headed home, another name will be drawn
?️ We’ll simply write every angler’s name on raffle tickets and let luck decide the winners!
The goal is simple: encourage everyone to participate in the tournament, enjoy the awards presentation, and add even more excitement and fun to an already outstanding tournament weekend at Kentucky Lake.
So don’t rush home after weigh-in… because your name could be the next one pulled for a $100 prize!
Good Luck Everyone — and we’ll see you at Kentucky Lake!

Get ready—it’s time for another incredible weekend of competition, camaraderie, and big bass!
We’re excited to invite you to our Lake of Egypt Tournament on April 11th, 2026, launching out of Mack’s Marina. This is shaping up to be one of the highlights of the season, with great water, strong spring patterns, and plenty of opportunities to bring in a winning bag.
Whether you’re chasing points, bragging rights, or just looking to enjoy a great day on the water with an outstanding group, this is a tournament you won’t want to miss. Lake of Egypt always delivers, and this time of year can produce some absolute giants—so come prepared!
After a long winter and a strong start to the season last weekend at Lake of the Ozarks, this is your chance to build momentum and make your mark.
Food will be provided Saturday evening by Sportsmans Lodge, on Friday a number of us will go to the local American Legion Hall to have fish for those observing the Lenten season.
Registration must be completed before Thursday evening in order to be included in the official tournament draw, which will take place Thursday at approximately 9:00 PM via Facebook Live. The draw results will be posted shortly afterward.
Any anglers who register after the Thursday night draw will still be eligible to participate but will be added to the kickoff order based on their registration time.
We look forward to kicking off another safe and great season and hope to see everyone there! ?
Our final general meeting for the 2026 Season was held on 2/22/2026 at Larrys Barn, 120 N Parkview St. Maryville, IL 62062.
22 members were in attendance plus another group of the wives were meeting in the house. Thanks to their efforts we had a very sucessful Banquet a couple weekends ago..
The meeting was started promptly at 2:34pm by president Larry Heagy after a great lunch highlighted by Larrys infamous Smoked Ham and other tasty treats brought by the club members.
Larry started off the meeting asking Ed for a recap of the last meeting. Since the minutes are posted online for everyone to see we opted out of reading the minutes in a vote initiated by Rudy and Seconded by Brian.
Moving on to the agenda, Ed gave a recap of the membership.
The Total Membership before the meeting was: 52 o Standard: 39 o Rookies: 4 o Spouses/Children/Sig Others: 9.
The membership numbers will increase once the season startes.
Ed gave the results from the Banquet.
Banquet Results • Registered: 107 Attended: 92 actually attended (Best Estimate) • Costs: o Ravenellis $2523.44 o VFW: $1450, Hall and Drinks o Raffle Prizes: $ 512.67 o Awards: $ 201.67 o Misc: $ 69.82 Total Costs: – $ 4757.60 • Income: o 50/50 netted $475 for the club. o The Raffle items netted $1190 for the club. o The Raffle Baskets netted $960 to the club. Total Income: $ 2625.00 • Difference: – $ 2132.60.
Thanks to everyone’s efforts at the banquet, we are able to maintain our annual dues at $65 for standard membership, $40 for rookies, and a greatly reduced rate of $10 per year for significant others, spouses, and children.
Family involvement is a cornerstone of our club. Offering full membership to significant others, spouses, and children at a reduced annual rate helps strengthen this foundation and ensures that our club continues to grow as a family-oriented organization.
Additionally, we maintain strong involvement with the Steel City Ladies Auxiliary, providing an opportunity for those who choose not to fish in the actual tournaments to participate and remain actively engaged in the club.
Ed then gave a overview of the Club bank account.
o Account Balance: $4848.65 o PayPal Balance: $134.62 o Cash on Hand: $65 Total Balance: $ 5048.27 o Paid entries for tournaments: Regular Tournaments: 34 @ $40 = $1360 Table Rock Tournaments: 6 @ $75 = $450 • Total Paid so far towards Tournaments: $1,810.00 Account Balance after subtracting the paid entries for the tournaments: $3,238.27
Rudy motioned to approve the financial report as given and Carl Seconded the motion. The motion passed by a unanimous vote.
Larry then took control of the meeting and we discussed ways that we can reduce the number of no-shows to the banquet. This year we paid for 125 meals from Ravenellis giving that we had 107 people registered for the banquet. This will give usa little extra for members to take home and enjoy. We had only 92 people show up for the banquet. That means that the club paid for 33 meals extra, that costs the club in excess of $500 that we did not think was a wise use of the money. While we like to have a free banquet for everybody we would also not like to waste funds. Some ideas were floated around to still allow the banquet to be free for everyone and their family and friends but control the costs a little better. This will be a topic for discussion after the season has ended and we begin the 2026/27 Winter meetings.
Larry mentioned that the Steel City Bassmasters participated in the booth with Razr Rods at this weekends St. Louis Boat and Fishing show at the St. Louis Convention Center, we would like to express our deep appreciation to Bryant Stickels for allowing us to participate with them. the show was not well advertised and the attendance was very low. At least we had some good times participating with Razr Rods and talking fishing with each other.
The final topic on the agenda we to review the 2026 Tournament Schedule:
We start off the season in a couple weeks at Lake of the Ozarks, We would like to thank the Sportsmans Lodge for providing us with the fish dinner on saturday night of the tournament.
Back by popular demand we will once again have FREE STEAK Night the day before the Table Rock Events. We tried it last fall for the first time and was a great sucess. All registered tournament anglers will receive one complimentary steak for the Friday evening Seminar and Raffle. Anglers who are registered to participate in the tournament are automatically registered to receive a steak and do not need to take any further action. Please help us control costs and if you cannot be there friday night just let us know so we do not have too many extra steaks.
We have an additional registration for a free steak for additional attendees, such as friends or spouses, who would also like to receive a steak. Registering helps us accurately determine the number of steaks and side items needed. If you are able to bring a side dish to share, it would be greatly appreciated.
And a final note, here is the EZ-Registrations link for registering for the tournaments and the Table Rock Steak nights. We appreciate everyones early entry so we can better plan the events.
We will hold our final winter meeting this Sunday, February 22, at 2:00 PM at Larry’s Barn.
Location: The Heagy Barn 120 Parkview St. Maryville, IL 62062
Food will be provided. Members are encouraged to bring a dish to share, and please bring your own beverages.
Significant others, Wives, Girlfriends are all encouraged to attend. After briefly recapping their much-appreciated contributions to the Banquet, there will be other activities for them in the house. Bring a dish to share and some refreshments, rumor has it that there might be a round or two of Bunco.
Proposed Meeting Agenda (subject to change):
Review of Banquet facilities, food, and overall feedback
Discussion of tournament procedures and venues
Table Rock Lake tournament planning
St. Louis Boat & Fishing Show results
Other business as needed
This will be our final meeting before the season starts at Lake of the Ozarks in a few weeks.
Members who have not yet registered their annual membership may do so at the meeting. You can also pay tournament entry fees at that time for any events you plan to attend. Please note that pre-registered tournaments may be canceled up until the published takeoff time of that event..
If you are aware of potential new members interested in joining, please feel free to invite them to attend.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday and are excited to kick off the 2026 Tournament Season.
Tight lines,
Ed Montgomery Secretary / Treasurer / Webmaster

Our second general meeting for the 2026 Season was held on 1/18/2026 at Larrys Barn, 120 N Parkview St. Maryville, IL 62062.
28 members were in attendance plus another group of the wives were working hard on arranging the decorations and baskets for the Banquet. Thanks to their efforts we now have a good number (15+) raffle baskets for the banquet.
The meeting was started promptly at 2:30pm by president Larry Heagy after a great lunch highlighted by some Armadillo Eggs created and cooked to perfection by Larrys wife.
Larry started off with a recap of the last season and the last meeting. Ed read the meeting miuntes from the 12/21/2025 meeting and a motion made by Frank Wilcoxon and seconded by Sergio Cortes to approved the minutes. The motion passed.
Larry recapped the Let’s Go Fishing Show. It was a great sucess and had dinner at Zapatas on Saturday night that was attended by 39 people. It was great to see everyone at the show.
Bryant Stickels of Razr Rods invited Steel City to share their booth at the St. Louis Boat & Fishing Show, held at America’s Center from February 20–22, 2026. The Steel City Bassmasters greatly appreciates this opportunity and will be attending the show. We will bring our 2026 club brochure and schedule cards to distribute to anyone interested in the club. Additional information regarding the show will be provided at our February 15, 2026 meeting.
Larry and Ed discussed the annual Awards Banquet scheduled for February 7, 2026. Here are the details that were discussed. The Bass Club has provided funds to the VFW to cover drinks at the event. Once those funds are exhausted, the bar will transition to a cash bar.
Date: February 7, 2026 Location: VFW Collinsville 1234 Vandalia St. Collinsville, IL 62234
Catering: Ravanelli’s Italian Steakhouse & Wine Bar Catering (Collinsville) Menu:
Chicken
Roast Beef with Gravy
Green Beans

Mashed Potatoes with Gravy
Darren Harnetiaux will be providing desert again this year. Thanks Darin for arranging this once again.
The banquet is free for members and their invited guests, but registration is required. If you or your guests are not registered, you will be served last and may not receive a meal.
To help offset the food cost ($20.34 per plate), Raffle Tickets, 50/50 and Basket Raffle purchases are strongly encouraged.
We will have many raffle items, including raffle baskets donated by club members and organized by the Ladies Auxiliary. If you plan to attend the Table Rock events, please submit your reservation to Lazy Lee’s as soon as possible. Lazy Lee’s is graciously allowing us to use their resort, so please do not wait until the last minute to reserve your lodging, as others will also be seeking accommodations that same weekend.
Lazy Lee’s Resort 49 Lazy Lee Lane Branson West, MO 65737 (417) 338-2253
The Pomme De Terre event is named the David R. Brown Memorial Tournament from a long time member of the club who passed away from a Heart Attack 8 years ago. At that time we created a perpetuial plaque for this event with 8 plates on it. This year we have filled all of those positions and would like to present the plaque to his family at the awards Banquet on February 7th. We would also encourage the winners on that plaque to be present during the awards banquet. The winners on the plaque are Joey Ozanich, Rocky Horrighs, Jack Watkins, Darin Harnetiaux and Chris Rensing.
Larry mentioned that Doug James who got us our first BullHorn for the tournament takeoffs has now rejoined the club. It was interesting to note the the Gobbler Mountain Resort at Table Rock Lake contacted Lazy Lees about to say that they heard the National Anthem and tournament takeoff from their resort over a mile away.
We noticed that the Website Menu did not have the Club Bylaws listed. Ed will fix that soon.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Sergio Cortes at 3:55pm and seconded by Brian Carlson. Motion Passed.
We got a call today from Dave at the Lake of the Ozarks @Sportsman Lodge at Rocky Mount and we need to reserve our rooms for our season opener at Lake of the Ozarks on March 14-15. We have a block of rooms reserved and he needs to put a name on the reserved rooms. He does not need payment at this time, just call or text him as soon as possible to reserve your room. Our first general meeting for the 2026 Season begins was held on 12/21/2025 at Larrys Barn, 120 N Parkview St. Maryville, IL 62062.
17 members were in attendance plus another 5 of the wives who are working hard on emptying some wine a vodka bottles in the house..
The meeting was started promptly at 2:33pm by president Larry Heagy after a great lunch highlighted by the ham provided by Larry.
The reading of the meeting miuntes from the 1/21/2025 meeting was waved with a motion made by Rudy and Seconded by Frank. The motion passed.
Larry started off the meeting with a recap of the agenda. Since we missed the November meeting due to illness we have pushed the nominations for Officers and board members to today with official election at the January 18, 2026 meeting.
Ed gave a recap of the club financials, especially noteworthy was the first ever Steak Night at Table Rock where the raffle ticket purchase accomodated the costs of the steaks for everyone. Also notable were the ladies efforts on the baskets at last years banquet. Through their efforts the baskets made over $900 for the club.
Larry Acknowledged the annual award winners for the season:
Angler of the Year: Chris Rensing
Big Bass of the Year: Denny Beiter
Rookie of the Year: Andy Shondy
Next item on the agenda is a review of the Tentative tournament Schedule for 2026 and the approval of the schedule. Larry pulled up the proposed schedule and went through line by line. Here is the review:
1.) Ky Lake location will be at the Moors (Ed missed that during publishing)
2.) Discussion was brought up by Scott Rice on the location of the Truman Lake tournament moving from Sterett Creek to Bucksaw Marina. Several items led to this change including Sterett Creeks ancellation of our pavilion for our fish fry without notice, no AC in Ed’s room. Bucksaw resort have a resturant, pavilions and even cabins on the water where you can tie your boat up to your cabin. This will be decided by the board and voted on at the next meeting. The Date and Truman Lake are approved.
3.) Some mention that Forbes Lake might be drained to repair the dam, should this happen that tournament will be modified to a new location or cancelled.
4.) Not mentioned at the meeting but this is important: The owner of the Sportsmans Lodge has blocked rooms for us for our LOZ tournaments. You must call them to reserve a room as the rooms are blocked for us.
5.) John Morris made a comment that this was the best looking schedule he has ever seen in preparation for the 2026 tournament season. Thanks Johnny for this highest accolade.
A motion was made by Mike Anderson to approve the schedule and was seconded by John Lyons. Vote passed and the vote was unanimous. All the tournaments have been approved and all of the flyers are online under the 2026 Tournament Schedule: You can also start registering for the tournaments at the links below:
The Let’s Go Fishing show will be Jan 2, 3 and 4th 2026. The Steel City Bassmasters will once again be hosting the Kids Corner fishing booth. It will again be in teh back corner of the LaSalle room. If you go there to shop or just hang out be sure to use our booth space to hang up your coat or drop off packages so you dont have to lug them around the show. On Saturday, Jan 3rd at 7:30pm we will be having our Zapatas get together after the show. Thanks to our long standing board member, Rudy Cardenas for arranging this event for us.
The banquet will be held on Feb 7, 2026. at the VFW in Collinsville, Ravenellis will be catering the event (thanks to Carl for arranging the food), the club has paid for drinks for the first $500, after that you can purchase your own drinks. No outside drinks cannot be brought in. You must register through the website so that we can have an accurate number for the food (The registration system will be available by Jan 1st.). If you do not register do not expect to have food, registration is free and easy.
Nominations for the Officers and Board Members was conducted, the nominations are:
President: Larry Heagy – Unapposed
Vice President: Mike Vallino – Unapposed
Secretary/Treasurer/Webmaster: Ed Montgomery – Unapposed
Board Members (accepted Nominations): Marj Wilcoxon, Denny Beiter, Carl Gansner, Rudy Cardenas and Bud Lyons.
Board Members (pending acceptance of Nomination): Andy Shondy, Russ Rensing, Paul Davis.
Declined Nomination: Johnny Morris (He says he will help anytime where it is needed).
A discussion was made by Scott Rice to have a Classic Tournament. This is a great idea and we will discuss further at the Jan 18, 2026 meeting.
Ed made a motion to amend Article III, Section #1 paragraph (d) which currently states:
(d) Board Members (7): Meet in conjunction with the elected officers. Duties explained in article IV. Six board positions will be elected by the general membership. A seventh board position will be appointed by the chapter president and approved by the board members. This appointed position will serve the role of chapter webmaster with a term lasting 1-year.
this should be modified to:
(d) Board Members (7): Meet in conjunction with the elected officers. Duties explained in article IV. Six board positions will be elected by the general membership. A seventh board position will be appointed by the chapter president and approved by the board members. This appointed position will serve the role of chapter webmaster with a term lasting 1-year. In the event that a chapter officer is acting as the chapter webmaster then all Seven board positions will be elected by the general membership.
This amendment will be voted on at the January 18th meeting.
For the 2026 season, annual dues will remain $65. All members who pay their dues before the banquet on February 7, 2026, at the VFW in Collinsville will be entered into the membership raffle held during the event. Dues can be paid online or directly to Ed by check or cash.

At the conclusion of the seminar we will raffle off some great prizes.

Our third general meeting for the 2025 Season begins was held on 1/19/2025 at Larrys Barn, 120 N Parkview St. Maryville, IL 62062.
16 members were in attendance plus another 5 of the wives who are working hard on the banquet decorations and raffles..
The meeting was started promptly at 2:13pm by president Larry Heagy.
The reading of the meeting miuntes from the last meeting were read, Motion by Frank Wilcoxon to approve the minutes as read with a second from Denny Beiter, motion passed.
Larry congratulated all the new officers and board members that were elected at the last meeting.
The banquet will be held on Feb 1st. at the VFW in Collinsville, Ravenellis will be catering the event (thanks to Carl for arranging the food), the club has paid for drinks for the first $500, after that you can purchase your own drinks. No outside drinks cannot be brought in. You must register through the website so that we can have an accurate number for the food. If you do not register do not expect to have food, registration is free and easy. We currently have 91 people registered for the banquet.
Frank talked to the owner of the Sportsmans Lodge and he noted that we still have 6 open cabins to reserve for the Lake of the Ozarks event. You must call them to reserve a room as the rooms are blocked for us.
Next we discussed the food at our Table Rock events. We have used Danas BBQ for many years but we feel that a change would be appreciated. Several members suggested having a Taco Bar as out evening meal after the event. Ed suggested that maybe Joy from Lazy Lees would want to take this on or we can go to a local Mexican restaurant such as Tequila’s Mexican in Branson West. The main thing would be to find someone who can deliver and set up the meal.
The next item we discussed was to fizz the fish at deeper lakes like Table Rock, Paul Davis has provided some instructions on how to do this properly to ensure the health of fish that are caught deeper. The instructions will be posted on the Facebook group page and on the website.
Marj Wilcoxon nominated herself to run the Marjarita Bar at the Table Rocks Events.
We discussed some ideas for pairing non-boaters with boaters who are seeking partners. Ed mentioned that he could look into a method to ask boaters if they are seeking a non boater when they register. It was discussed that the basic principle of the club is not to have a draw club but to have a club where you fish with whom you want to fish with. The best way for a non-boater to find a boater would be to attend the events like the meetings and the banquet and ask around.
A motion to adjourn was made by Mike at 3:11pm and seconded by Sergio. Motion passed
Our second meeting for the 2025 Season begins was held on 12/21/2024 at Larrys Barn, 120 N Parkview St. Maryville, IL 62062.

The meeting was started promptly at 2:17pm by president Larry Heagy.
The reading of the meeting miuntes from the last meeting was waved, Motion by Paul davis and seconded by Sergio Cortes.
Larry discussed reviewing the bylaws.
Larry discussed the plans for the Lets Go Fishing Show in Collinsville Jan 3-5 and discussed the club dinner at Zapatas at 7:00pm after the show ends on Saturday 1/4/2025.
The annual award banquet will be held on 2/1/2025 at the VFW in Collinsville. Be sure to register yourself and guests online on the website so we can have the proper amount of food for everybody.
Discussed buy a rod/reel for the banquet, motion passed.
Discussed no longer doing raffle tickets for dues. This drawing will be done at theh banquet where each paid member will be entered into the DRAWING WHEEL and the drawing will be done at the banquet.
Discussed having silent aution items at the banquet.
Discussed alternatives to Dana’s BBQ at the Table Rock Events. More discussion will be had during the winter meetings.
Discussed the need to call for reservations at the Sportsman Lodge at Lake of the Ozarks. They have 11 cabins reserved for Steel City Bassmasters and the rooms are blocked. You must call so they can unblock the rooms so you can reserve your spot. If you want to stay there you need to make your reservations as soon as possible. Sportsmans Lodge: 573-365-1700

Our first meeting for the 2025 Season begins was held on 12/1/2024 at Larrys Barn, 120 N Parkview St. Maryville, IL 62062. Larry provided some excellent smoked vittles for us to eat and the members brought excellent snacks as well.
17 members and 1 guest (Mary) was in attendance.
The meeting was started at 2:22pm by president Larry Heagy.
A quick discussion was had that the next General Meeting will be on SATURDAY, December 21, 2024 at Larrys Barn. We hope that the change in meeting day to Saturday will draw more attendance to the meetings.
Larry started off the meeting with a recap of the 2024 season. We recognized Chris Rensing as the 2024 Angler of the Year. He then mentioned some of the topics for todays meeting including the review and voting on of the 2025 Schedule, The Lets Go Fishing Show, the Officer and Board Member nominations as well as the annual banquet on 2/1/2025.
Ed read the minutes from the March 2024 meeting. Paul Davis made a motion to approved the minutes with Carl Seconding the motion. the Motion was passed unanimously.
A discussion of the 2025 Schedule was started off by Larry discussing the process by which the Officers and Board Members can up with the schedule during a closed doors meeting on November 10, 2025. Ed posted the results of the Tentative 2025 Schedule to give the members some time to evaluate and discuss the proposed schedule before coming to todays meeting. With only 17 people in attendance the schedule must have been pretty good otherwise we feel that more would be in attendance. Absentee ballots are never taken so if you want your voice heard you must attend the meetings. Larry discussed some of the reasons to hold one day events at locations that were traditionally two day events. The schedule will be voted on then we will discuss the 1 or 2 day event schedule.
Denny Beiter motioned hat we approve the schedule as written with the note that we will discuss each venue to determinate of they should be one or two day events. Carl seconded the motion. The vote was 13 people for the approval of the schedule and 4 people against approval. The motion passed and the schedule is now set.
Larry kicked off the discussion of 1 day travel tournament vs. 2 day events. There are 5 events that fall into this category. LOZ-Spring, KY Lake, Truman Lake, Pomme (David r. Brown Memorial) and LOZ-Fall. After a discussion as to why people perfer 1 day events and a rebuttal of people wanting two day events we decided on a vote for each venue. The vote was to approve each location as a 1 day event. the results by event are as follows:
LOZ- Spring: 9 people for a 1 day event and 8 against a 1 day event. This event will be 1 day.
Kentucky Lake: 6 people for a 1 day event and 11 against a 1 day event. This event will be 2 day.
Truman Lake: 9 people for a 1 day event and 8 against a 1 day event. This event will be 1 day.
Pomme (David R. Brown): 8 people for a 1 day event and 9 against a 1 day event. This event will be 2 day.
LOZ – Fall: 6 people for a 1 day event and 11 against a 1 day event. This event will be 2 day.
Just because the event is one day does not mean that the membership has to leave after the tournament, if is encouraged to stay the night so you can be refreshed when driving home in a manner of safety on the road. Ed has agreed to work with the Board Member who is the Food and Beverage Coordinator to provide food after the event on the 1 day tournaments to encourage the members to stay the night.
Next up on the agenda we the annual banquet. Larry and Ed went to the Collinsville VFW and signed the contract for February 1, 2025. The venue will have an excellent place to collect dues, sell raffle tickets, do a 52 card raffle for a high quality rod/reel and maybe even offfer some silent auction baskets, we are looking for volunteers to assist coordination the Silent Auction baskets (The baskets do not have to be fishing related as many members in attendance would gladly bid on other items such as items for the home, car, garage, etc…).
We discussed the finances at the Table Rock Events. The price for Danna’s BBQ has went up but since we raised the entry fee for this season we did not lose money for the event. Some discussion was had about an alternative to Danna’s BBQ as we have been using them for quite a few years and some members would like to see a change. We discussed this and Danna’s BBQ is the easiest option we have as some options will not deliver to Lazy Lee’s. We will gladly evaluate any alternative people can come up with at these winter meetings but for now it will remain with Danna’s BBQ.
Larry discussed the Let’s Go Fishing show to be held on January 3-5, 2025. The Steel City Bassmasters will once again be hosting the Kids Corner with a fish pond for the kids to catch fish. We are working with the Gateway Center to once again provide Ice Cream to the participants free of charge in order to drive attendance to the LaSalle Room (where we were in the past). Ed will be updating the club brochure and will have them available at the December 21 (Saturday) meeting and we will give them out not only at the Steel City booth but an offer was made to us to have a table at the Razr Rods booth.
On Saturday, January 4th the Steel City Bassmasters will gather for a Club Dinner and Social at Zapatas after the Let’s Go Fishing Show. All members and their guests are invited to attend. We do need an accurate number so we can get a reservation big enough to accomodate us. The bill will NOT be placed on the club, each member must pay their own bill.
A discussion on offering a rod/reel to raffle off at the Let’s Go Fishing show was discussed and it was the general consensus that we should affer a quality rod/reel as opposed to a sale item. We will discuss this at the next general meeting.
Larry discussed the weigh in procedures and asked for any input to make the weigh ins more efficient. Having the tub has greatly enhanced the procedure and we are always accepting of any improvements that can be made.
And finally we took nominations for Officer and Board Members. Larry explained that there are 3 officer positions and 7 board positions needing to be filled. We did have a long time board member drop out for the 2025 season so we will at least need to fill that spot. The nominations were as follows in order of the nomination :
Persident – Larry Heagy (accepted nomination)
Vice President:
Paul Davis (accepted nomination)
Mike Vallino (declined nomination)
Sec/Treasurer/Webmaster: Ed Montgomery (accepted nomination)
Board Members (in order of nomination), we need to vote on 7 for the board positions:
Marj Wilcoxon (accepted nomination)
Denny Beiter (accepted nomination)
Mike Vallino (accepted nomination)
Carl Gansner (accepted nomination)
Russ Rensing (accepted nomination)
Mike Anderson (accepted nomination)
Rudy Cardenas (accepted nomination)
Chris Rensing (accepted nomination)
Frank Wilcoxon (declined nomination)
The vote for the board positions will be at the December 21, 2024 general meeting. Yes, that meeting is on a Saturday so be sure to put it on your calendars in order to attend and vote on the new 2025 board members. Absentee ballots will not be taken, you must be in attendance to cast your votes.
Meeting was adjourned at 4:35 pm.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Rocky Horrighs.

For 2025 the annual dues will still be $65 and you will receive 100 raffle tickets. The raffle tickets can be sold for $1 each or 6 for $5, all of the revenue generated by the sale of the tickets goes to the seller and not the club (since you already got them by paying your dues). To be eligible for the raffle the dues must be paid before the banquet on February 1, 2025 (Banquet date where we do the drawing). Ed has set up paying your dues online but you can also pay Ed via Check or Cash to avoid the Online fees that are incurred via online payments.
